Survival Bow Making

We have made an effective arrow, now we need to make a survival bow capable of delivering it with lethal force.

In nature, good bow woods are somewhat rare. Survival bows are not "character" bows. The object is to select a blank that can be worked "green" into a functioning bow with the least amount of difficulty. This generally means selecting a white wood bow.

The object of this class will be to select and form, from green wood, a hunting bow of at least 40 pounds, in one day. When starting with green wood, such a bow cannot be dried in one day. Although, after it has been thinned and shaped, it can be dried, with the use of fire, to be an effective hunting weapon in just a few days. This class will emphasize bow design strategies and why some woods make the best bows.
