Wilderness "Day" Classes and Courses for
Traditional Survival Skills

This is a list of the Primitive "Day" classes we offer at this time. The one day classes are generally offered on Saturdays, but may be offered other days of the week.

How To Stay Warm: Using a HotBed
In this class you will learn the basics of, preparing, setting up and using a Hot Bed, for emergence comfort in the wild, and the basics of how to stay warm in a cold environment.

Arrow Making
In this class, we will go through the thirteen step process to finish a lethal hunting arrow.

Basic Cordage
In this course at Primal-Knowledge, you will learn how to make strong cordage using natural materials.

Basic Flint Knapping
In this class, we will go through basic flint knapping steps needed to produce a lethal hunting point.

Deer Butchering
Learn the steps of deer butchering to prepare your wild game for the family table.

Deer Hide Tanning
This class will focus on the dry scrape method of deer hide tanning. This class is only offered as a, 2 day Weekend Class.

Fire From Nothing
Come take a course at Primal-Knowledge and learn how to make fire from nothing, one of the most important primitive skills.

Hunting Bow Strings
In this class, we will explore several alternatives for constructing a hunting bow string of sufficient strength to function with a hunting bow of at least 50 lbs.

Wild Plant Wisdom
Kristen Dorsey, shamanic herbalist of Divine Journeys, will lead a class on wild plant identification, use, harvest and preparation. A meal of wild edibles will be provided for lunch.

Learn how to do primitive trapping to survive in a wilderness environment. Primitive Trapping can provide food, tools, and shelter.

Small Mammal Tanning
In this class, we learn to tan Small Mammals, while preserving the hair on hides. We will go from skinning to smoking.

Survival Bow Making
This class is only offered as a "Weekend" two day course. It will emphasize a "green" wood survival bow, with design strategies and, why some woods make the best bows. We will be fire to force dry the bow.

Survival Cooking
Learn to prepare a variety of foods, in the wild, without the aid of modern cooking utensils.

Winter Survival Shelter
Learn how to construct a winter survival shelter to maintain body heat in snow and cold temperatures.
